| Acoustic Muse Shows are held on the ground floor of a late
victorian white house on Charlottesville's famed Rugby Road, on the corner
of Rugby and Gordon Avenue, about one half mile north of the Rotunda at
UVA.
FROM INTERSTATE 64, take exit 118-B, (the University of Virginia information exit). This will put you on the Rt. 29 bypass, headed north. Stay on the bypass 1.8 miles and take the 2nd exit onto Rt. 250 business east. Follow Rt. 250 (Ivy Rd.) for 1.4 miles, through three stoplights. The fourth light, at the top of a long hill, is Rugby Road. Make a left on Rugby and go 0.3 miles, crossing a small bridge. Gordon Ave. is the first right after the bridge. Make a right on Gordon and you're there! The first right leads into our small parking lot, but plenty of additional parking is available at the Westminster Presbyterian Church next door (the lots connect, and it's perfectly fine to park there during Acoustic Muse concerts). FROM WASHINGTON D.C. and points north, the most expeditious way is to take I-66 west to either of the two exits for U.S. 29 South (depending on how much of the Mannassas Battlefield Park you'd like to see: the first exit will take you right through it). Follow 29 all the way down to Charlottesviile, through Warrenton, Culpeper and Madison. The northern approaches to Charlottesville are a hideous clog of commercial asphaltine development where Custer and Stuart once engaged in battle to make the world safe for Rite Aid. Persevere through this, and many intersections later you will pass under the 250/29 bypass to Lynchburg/Richmond. Stay on 29 Business (Emmet St.) and continue south all the way to the light at University Avenue, which is just past a railroad trestle. Make a left on University Avenue and proceed up the long hill to the first light at Rugby Road. Make a left on Rugby and go 0.3 miles, crossing a small bridge. Gordon Ave. is the first right after the bridge. Make a right on Gordon and you're there! The first right leads into our small parking lot, but plenty of additional parking is available at the Westminster Presbyterian Church next door. THE SCENIC/CIVIL WAR HISTORY ROUTE from Washington, if you have more time, is to take I-95 South to Fredericksburg and then Rt. 3 west through Chancellorsville to Rt. 20 south, which you can follow all the way through the Wilderness, Orange and Barboursville to Charlottesville, where you will emerge on the east side of town on Rt. 250. Take a right (250 West) and follow the 250 bypass all the way around to the 29 South Business exit. Follow 29 business (Emmet St.) down to University Ave. and the rest of the way is the same as above. FROM LYNCHBURG, DANVILLE or GREENSBORO, NORTH CAROLINA and points South,
take U.S. 29 North to Charlottesville. After passing under I-64 just south
of town, the directions are the same as from Interstate 64, above. |
